Claus M. Fichte, M.D.

Dr. Fichte is well known as one of the country's leading surgeons in both cataract and refractive surgery. As a clinical investigator, he has been instrumental in the introduction of many new and improved techniques in ophthalmology.

At present, he is closely involved with the new multifocal intraocular lens implant, a "no-stitch" surgical technique and the use of laser to correct eye problems such as nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism

Michael J. Endl, M.D.

Dr. Endl is a native of Western New York. His desire to return to Western New York and practice state-of-the-art ophthalmology in our community makes Fichte, Endl & Elmer Eyecare the perfect home for him.

He has written chapters in ophthalmology textbooks, presented research at international ophthalmic meetings and received numerous awards for his work.

Dr. Endl graduated Magna Cum Laude with numerous honors from the University at Buffalo medical school, and then went on to specialize in ophthalmology at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. In his fourth year of residency, he was elected chief resident and studied with two of the country's leading experts in eye surgery.

Dr. Thomas Elmer, M.D.

Dr. Elmer was born and raised right here in Western New York and is a graduate of Canisius High School. He received a double major in Biology and Psychology from the University of Notre Dame and earned his M.D. degree back home at SUNY-Buffalo School of Medicine. Following an internship at Ochsner Medical Foundation in New Orleans, he joined a prestigious residency program at Louisiana State University, where he was elected Chief Resident in Ophthalmology. He then returned to Western New York and completed a Pediatric Ophthalmic Fellowship at SUNY-Buffalo Department of Ophthalmology. After his fellowship, he went on an extended mission tour of Africa, performing a wide variety of complex eye surgeries.

Dr. Elmer’s extensive experience and training in cataract, Lasik, glaucoma and laser surgeries, as well as his specialized pediatric training, allows us to further expand our total eye care services.

P. Emmett Hurley, M.D.

Peter Emmett Hurley, MD, MS is a graduate of the University at Buffalo School of Medicine, and completed his Ophthalmology residency in Syracuse, New York, where he served as Chief Resident his final year. He completed his two-year fellowship in Orbital & Ophthalmic Plastic Surgery in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and has authored numerous research papers on Oculoplastic Surgery. Dr. Hurley received the Upstate Medical University Graduate Medical Education Peer-Selected Award for Excellence in Teamwork. Dr. Hurley specializes in problems related to the eyelids, tear ducts, orbits, and performs cosmetic surgery of the eyelids and face.He is one of the few surgeons qualified to do this in Western New York.
