Macular Degeneration

Up to 15 million Americans suffer from age-related macular degeneration (AMD). It is the most common cause of severe vision loss, and it primarily impacts adults over the age of 60. Over 200,000 new cases are diagnosed each year, which fall into one of two forms – “wet” or neovascular, and “dry” or atrophic.

AMD affects central vision – that is the “straight ahead” vision needed to read, drive, watch TV, etc. There is no cure for this progressive disease, however, depending on the patients unique factors, there may be treatment options.
