Ophthalmic Surgical Supervisor

Join our dynamic clinical team as an Ophthalmic Surgical Supervisor, playing a pivotal role in patient interactions and ensuring a seamless surgical process. We value effective communication and are in search of a positive, enthusiastic individual with an outgoing personality to join our team. This Supervisor will oversee daily operations, ensure productivity targets are met, and manage a team of employees to ensure high levels of accuracy and performance.

Responsibilities

  • Clearly explain surgical procedures to patients.
  • Facilitate testing for patients as required.
  • Discuss lens choices with patients and handle financial transactions for eligible candidates.
  • Collaborate with physicians to review surgery schedules and premium lens options before procedures.
  • Ensure all signed consents are appropriately scanned and documented.
  • Responsively handle patient phone calls both pre and post-surgery.
  • Schedule in-office procedures and complete necessary paperwork.
  • Perform other office duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Previous surgical coordination or counseling experience is required, ophthalmology is preferred. 
  • C.O.A., C.O.T, or Nursing background helpful.
  • Proven experience as a Supervisor or in a similar leadership role.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a team.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to make quick, effective decisions.          
  • Proficiency in using EMR/EHR. 
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Well-organized, team-oriented individual with keen attention to detail.
  • Superior computer skills.
  • Energetic with a positive attitude.

Scribe – Full or Part Time

We are currently looking for an ophthalmic scribe. The scribe works along side the doctors noting his findings in electronic medical records. Scribes also do specialized medical coding and billing for exams and ophthalmic testing. Other aspects of the job include, typing consult letters, escorting patients to check out or testing areas, obtaining signed consent from patients before medical procedures are performed and setting patient recalls and future appointments.

The scribe is an integral part of the team. Often times scribes are promoted to technicians where the skills they learned as a scribe are expanded upon in the technician role. We realize an ophthalmic scribe is a very unique position and we are willing to train the right person on the job.

Scribes ideally have some type of medical background so they understand medical terminology. They also must be able to type and are computer literate.

Ophthalmic Technician ( Full time & Part-time positions) 

Ophthalmic Technicians needed for progressive expanding Ophthalmic team. The successful candidates will be responsible for exceptional patient care and have an outgoing and friendly attitude. Qualifications include – good computer skills, excellent customer service skills, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a team environment.

The Ophthalmic Technician is an indispensable part of our medical team.  Not only does the Technician take a full medical history on the patient,  they are responsible for all the pre-testing which needs to be performed before the patient sees the doctor.   These pre-tests include checking interocular eye pressure, vision assessment, neutralizing glasses, refractometry, topography, glare testing, and more.  If you have experience performing these tests you are an IDEAL CANDIDATE.  Working on a computer in electronic medical record systems entering test data and patient history is also a large part of the job.  

The ideal candidate will have one or more years of experience working as an ophthalmic technician, Optometric technician, medical scribe, or optician.  While graduates of a medical assisting or Optician program are also desirable, we will consider training the right person if he/she does not meet the preferred experience guidelines.
